In this political environment I am so glad I am in the kid business.   To be able to look forward towards summer of 2017 is refreshing.  The journals are now being putting together, all 120 pages front and  back.  For those of you who don't understand.  Those memories that were written all summer are not typed up and being bound for mailing.  They are funny, heart wrenching, and creative.  The yearbook video was just completed but will not be sent out until Thanksgiving. In this odd political environment it is refreshing to watch people just having fun!  Last year was the year of memory necklaces and memories.  Hopefully, that will carry us towards the summer of 2017.  The reunions are being planned for December 26th in Florida and Janaury 15th for Maryland and Virginia.  Locations are being worked on now.  It is amazing how much work it is to close and reopen camp.  Thank you for your support as we celebrate 62 years and going strong.  It is a pleasure promoting from within.  Matt Guffey is now full time. A nice young man and a great asset to camp.  I think this is the first time camp closed up properly.   Our calendars are filling in for the year.  We depend on our alumni for referrals and open houses.  So please contact camp and lets put one together in your area.  So what is the theme of this blog?  Lifelong memories and planning new ones for 2017!

The summer is over and we get to play all over again

The children left August 12 but we stayed until last week.  Why you may ask, because we had groups after camp one day after closing until last weekend.  We ended with a beautiful, wonderful wedding.  Jill, Allison, Jm, Matt, Tennis Dave, Cheyenne, and Alex cooked 150 crab cakes, 300 friend shrimp, meatballs, spanakopita, spring rolls, tenderloin, turkey, brisket, apple crisp, chocolate chip banana bread, muffins, etc. etc. etc.  We made beds, did laundry and packed everything again for next summer.   The wedding took place down by the river and the weather was perfect.  The affair was in the playhouse and the band played until the wee hours of the morning.  It was just amazing.  The next two days we closed camp, packed up and are now enrolling children for 2017.  As Florida braces for Mathew ( a hurricane) we brace for summer of the 2017.  I know we have not been available but we were working hard to make it happen.   We forgot to tell the chickens we were leaving as they are still laying two cases of eggs a week, and the peacocks are perched on their post looking for the children.   Have  you seen our commercial?  It is playing in Washington , Virginia, Maryland and Pittsburgh.  Maybe you will be a T.V. star.  Contracts to staff are going out this week.  As we all know the staff of 2016 was great!   We look forward towards touching base with them again.  And how about them O's.  Tonight at 7 in Toronto.  We hope they bring their game and we can go forward to Texas.  It makes good television and we don't have to watch the Vice Presidential debate!!! That being said,  cheer on the Orioles and we will talk again soon.  If you get sad look at your memory necklace and remember camp is only 250 days away!

One two three four we want Color War

War is about to break out at Timber Ridge, Color War that is.  Not yet but close!  The children are waiting in anticipation.  The themes are still a mystery.   Last night was an amazing Talent Show.  The little girls danced for the camp with Sydney Thune, all of 8years old, being the choreographer and directing a crew of 8 across the stage with flips, turns and twists.  Daniel Zuhen took over the Baby Grand with a concert your mouth would drop open to hear.  How long have you played the piano Daniel? ,  11years ( he is 15) just amazing!  Siena Dibene played the piano and sang she is ready for the Voice.  Sophia Blake got up and sang, where has she been hiding the talent she showed?   Marissa Kubin and Maggie Milligan danced solos and were great.  I can not forget our talented staff:  Rachel McNear, who is way too talented, Lee Neemer Shay Kleinman, and Chris Shoff who sang their own song of "Camp children don't cry" about past homesickness and of course the solo by Shay Kleinman of "Halleuijah"  This has been a heartfelt amazing summer.  We have grown as a family and a team so seeing these young adult and children go back to their lives leaves a sadness for those we may not see again.  However, they have grown and their lives will be forever changed as a result of their time here.  One, two three four we are ready for Color War! 

First blog with more to come, summer of 2016

I guess I have been lax in blogging about this summer.  However that does not mean we have not been busy.  This summer has been amazing for both staff, children and myself.  I guess I can quote the children.  "Why do we have to go to bed when this is the only place where we can walk around and watch the stars whenever we want and not be scared".  Well they have to go to bed but it was an interesting comment.  The safety and fun zone here is 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  Such a needed break from life in the city.  This year not only do children not have cell phones but neither do staff.  This was a hard rule to pass.  I can not tell you the maneuvering and manipulating to not make that happen.  However, after a very short time our young staff realized they did not even want their cell phones.  You may ask why?  Communication skills lack in todays society.  The internet answers all of the question and none of the questions.  It is so easy to zone out and text a friend or hang at the office during off time.  Without cell phones the staff and children are forced to play, forced to laugh, and forced to figure it all out.  The growth of the staff this summer from day one has been in leaps and bounds.  Very few staff did not make it, and most have excelled.  The other big thing has been full camp events.  Without cell phones everyone knows everyone and really enjoys being together to laugh and encourage the young and old.  During meals not only do we eat together as a large family we talk together and laugh together.   We discuss the days events what were are going to do and what we have done.  At camp "Color War" is more important then the presidential elections.  Because the reality is all of the good and bad news will be there when this fantasy world ends.  We are on a need to know basis and so far no one needs to know.  We raised the flag half mass when the rest of the country does but we do not explain why and no one asks?  Camp is what is used to be back in the old days.  The only news you got or wanted was from your neighbor.  The news here is who learned to swim, who caught the biggest fish and what an amazing Circus show we had last night.  I love camp!

Europe, Camp Fairs, Reunions and a busy office!

Hello to all my Timber Ridge Family and Friends,

Long time  no talk!  Sorry we have been behind on our blogs, but it has been a very busy couple of months for the TR Family.  Jill, Fred and I spent two weeks in Europe recruiting new and exciting friends to bring to camp this summer!  We met some wonderful young people who will be joining us.  We have also been traveling around the United States to Camp Fairs and events to find new friends to join our camp program, just two weeks ago we were in Richmond and Charlottesville, Dulles Town Center Yesterday, and we will be in Florida in two weeks!

Next Weekend---February 28th is our reunion make up day!  We hope to see everyone there!

Fred, Brian, and Allison have been visiting university's to bring the best counselors to camp.  Allison is actually at West Virginia University today to meet and interview potential candidates-- Logan is going to help her out!

The miniature Golf Course and New Gaga-Courts are underway they will be such a welcomed addition to camp!  Canteen on me for any campers who can beat me in Mini Golf!!! Don't worry I will have time in may to practice before you get there!

Murray is putting together the summer calendar now, but we always need your great ideas so please email us with anything you would like us to add onto our summer program!  We love new ideas for evening activities, Saturday events or just any fun thoughts that you may have.

Everyone make sure to wish Uncle Fred a Happy Birthday on Friday (Feb 26) he will love to hear from you!

I am not surprised that a gaming system was used in the recent attacks in Paris. This is how the new generation communicates. Everyone who knows me knows for years that I dislike the over use and abuse of technology. Though it is a wonderful thing to be connected to the world, I am a believer that it brings depression, poor communication skills as well a false reality of what life is all about. That is why I love camp where the air is clean, the people are real, and the ...friendships are true friendships, not face book friends. Yes, I am venting as parents need to pull those cell phones from the dinner table, shut down the games after school, and talk to your children. Look at their eyes, ask the right questions, and listen. We parents, are the teachers, not their friends, we are their lifeline to the future. We will continue to take those cell phones at camp, pull off the earphones, and put away gaming systems as our mission is to help everyone who joins us look around and see how beautiful the world can be with real friends who you can call anytime anywhere and who care! Camp is no longer a luxury I truly believe it is a necessity in todays world!

Dog Days of Fall into Winter

I was talking to Uncle Fred and he was saying how hot it is in Florida today.  Here is Baltimore it is raining and in the 60's.  Thanksgiving is coming soon and I was thinking about all I am grateful for.  First of course my husband of 35 years, college love and my great kids and grand kids.  It was hard work but I am really proud of all of them.  My boys are gorgeous and I get a warm feeling all over when they call and I hear , "Nana".  Even the two year who does not say much but "Nana" he does say with love.  Zack works very hard in the midwest and though I miss him terribly I am proud of him for the life he has carved out for himself.  Jobi is special, beautiful, bright and really my closest girlfriend and the best.  If I ever need anything she is there.  Second is still having my father in my life.  He is an amazing man and I talk to him many times a day.  Still sharp, playing tennis and golf, and the King of his domain.    Always has my back!  Third to be able to create magic each summer in an amazing place like camp.  Sometimes we forget with the rat race of life how amazing it is to be able to escape for several months and play with adults and children in a safe, fun, place where no one grows old.  It is like Never Never Land.  I awake to Roosters screaming, children playing, laughter and music everyday.  I know how amazing it is as when I talk to alumni about  their best memories and best friends  from camp.  Some have not been to camp in over 50 years and yet they talk about it like it was yesterday.  Facebook is full of cabin pictures and people I have not seen in many many years.  Yet, I remember them like it was yesterday.  It is pure, wholesome, and amazing and I am thankful to be able to be part of this dream.  Next are my dogs.  Now many people don't love animals.  However,  I have the 3 most amazing dogs.  They are quiet, loving, and beautiful.  There is Vinney who is 13 years old, OCD, quirky and has his own corner of the house. Why OCD?  Well, he drinks in 3's, follows the same path in and out of the house all of the time, will not go any other way!  Sleeps and eats in the same corner.  Definitely fits into our family.  Then there is Millie.  She had a brain tumor at the age of 8 months and it was removed.  She is the miracle dog.   University of Pennsylvania said she was going to die but they were wrong and my wonderful vet found a surgeon who removed it and it was benign, that was two years ago.  Then there is the puppy Daisy all of  6 pounds but rules the house, and Millie.  Finally,  I get to work with amazing people.  Everyday I love being with them.  We spend an incredible amount of time together and our love is like family.  They are there for me no matter what.  Who can say that about people they work with!  They  help create the magic and love doing it.  So no matter what happens in life I have been blessed and if I don't say it enough, I am thankful!!!  What are you thankful for?  Look around, life may be difficult at times but there is always something that is amazing that makes the hard work and hard times just a bump in the road!

Back To Baltimore Up and Running!

    When I tell my friends and family I work for a summer camp they always say to me, "Wow that sounds great!  What do you do the rest of the year?"  I stand there like a deer in headlights with no idea what to say, those who have never done it, never lived, just wouldn't understand anyways... So I just give the generic answer, "Well, we start planning for next summer, you know... Staffing, recruiting, business operations." I then hear them mumble under there breath, "Yeah... Ok, nothing... sounds like a dream"  If only they knew how HARD we really work.  Jill, Fred, Allison and of course myself put in a lot of hours and a lot of work to put together the production of Your summer experience.  Trust me is not nothing, but it is a dream, a dream world we strive to create for children and teens.  A world where you can be free to express your self, you can succeed in everything, a dream world where you meet the best friends and build the strongest relationships you will ever make.  Already Jill has visited 3 new prospective family's, we have started to put out strong feelers for staff,  begun putting together a shell calendar of programming, and started the last steps of finishing the journals, look for those soon!  WOW, we have only been back to work for 3 days! So many things are in the works for 2016, such a great core group of returning staff, and the best early bird enrollment in my 9 years of working at Timber Ridge.  The buzz in the office is electric for this time of year as leads roll in.  Allison is working with Google to complete the virtual tour, Jill is contacting family's and potential hires for key staff, and I am busting out Journals and keeping the business aspects of camp rolling.  Jill and I drove up to camp yesterday to check out the closing process, camp is all buttoned down, locked up and put away.  Bill and Bill are just working on the last few steps to make sure nothing gets damaged in the West Virginia winter.  We enjoyed walking around reminiscing so much that we didn't get back to Baltimore until 7pm.
    We always look forward to hearing what your are doing, where you are, how your sports teams are performing, any awards you have received, plays you have acted in, or really anything else you want to tell us! We will publish them in our blog and newsletters for all of your Timber Ridge Family to see.

Camp - My Story

                Camp is the only place to get away. Adults acting like children. Children trying to act like adults, but still holding on that youth that most of have lost along the way. Camp is the one and the only place that I know of where people come together and change. The memories stay for a life time just like the lessons we all learn.

                We might get caught up in the activities, the camp gossip, the evening activities, but you will never forget the feelings that we have. I ask myself at the beginning of another summer, why did I come back this summer? I remind myself of the color wars, the tears shed when we leave, the laughter (coming from the most unemotional Scuba out there), and the memories that stay with me forever.

                I remember starting camp at the same time as Logan and Paige Adams. How over six summers we come to claim that we I am part of the Adams family. How I remember sitting on my porch playing Pokémon with Merek. How I can tell you all of my camper’s names by heart, but I can barely remember half of my co-counselor’s names. These are the memories I have. I remember the tears I shed when Teddy New left camp my first summer, because he looked at me and we both started to cry.

                Summers are the memories and feelings that we have. Camp is the place that we can have those feelings and memories. And I am glad that I have been fortunate enough to spend six summers with the blessed individuals that come in and out of Timber Ridge. I wouldn’t change a moment of it.

Scuba Steve

So many new amazing people are coming to camp this summer.  I would like to introduce Maria Garcia. She will be heading our dance program this summer at camp.  Maria holds degrees in Modern Dance, and her style is very unique.  Her international credits include both a dancer and choreographer in Spain, Germany, Argentina and the Dominican Republic.  For the last 25 years she has lived and worked in South Florida.   Currently,  Maria is a dance teacher at Okeeeheelee Middle school in West Palm Beach.  Heading our Art Department is Sarah Granger.  Sarah is a mother of 4 ( who will all be attending camp) and lives in Charlottesville, Va.  She comes from an art background and is familiar with education as her husband is a teacher advocate in the Charlottesville community.  Mary Helen Crowder is our third full time registered nurse who will be working with Kathy and Kieran.  She has two sons who will be coming to camp this summer with her.  Welcome back Allison Busky.  We are so excited to have her join the Timber Ridge team.  She and her son Aiden will be working with Scuba in the office.  Allison is an amazing person who is not only smart  but knows and loves Timber Ridge.  We are fortunate to have her!   While we are welcoming back people of the past, welcome back Matt Demko.  He will be running the canteen, working with Murray and JM this summer.  Also, welcome back Mauricio as senior boys division leader.  He is an amazing young man who knows camp, the camper, and Timber Ridge.

In one month Alex , JM , Jordan Cooper and myself are moving to camp!  Can you believe it?   It is true we have to get the place ready for a group Memorial day weekend.  Also, I need to check on my chickens and peacocks that are now grazing at Timber Ridge.  Millie, Vinnie,Oreo, and Nick are ready to run before the children get there and now that the winter is over. Logan Adams and  Ellen contacted us yesterday, They want to come early too, so it will be really be a wonderful precamp.

The roof on the dining hall is being replaced this week, and next week the tennis courts are getting painted.  So we are busy on our way towards summer 2015.  Stay tuned for more information coming to you!

91 Days

91 Day---- Just rang through  my brain--- Still over 90---- But so few with so much to do!  People always ask what we do in the off season.... Its very hard to explain--- because you do so much and so many totally different unrelated things--- Like writing a blog---Order buses---- Book Flights--- Visiting new families---Meeting and interviewing 100's of people for jobs, advertising for open positions, business administration, taxes and that's just before noon.  When People say Camp is close its almost a nervous feeling, an excited nervous feeling.  Yes Camp is close and thats amazing.. Buttttttt.... What have we forgot, what do we still need to do?  Is the water working in Cabin 8?   Is the window fixed in Cabin 28?  Did we replace the screens on cabin 3?   Did we order the bus to pick the children up in Rockville?  But we always get everything done and we are prepared and ready for you to arrive.

Murray has already put the initial calender together---We haven't filled it yet but we have a great start.

Bill and Bill have cleaned up the leaves so they can see the many projects that need completed.

Jill finally had the chickens and peacocks moved out of Baltimore and back to West Virginia where they belong!

The New ATV's Jill and I bought are up and running and will be taken to camp very soon.

We hear from our returning staff all the time with thoughts and ideas, and we are always on the lookout for new and exciting staff---We just hired an amazing Dance instructor-- I am sure she will help you spruce up MTV night, and teach all of us some moves!  Might even have to get Murray to do some Zumba!  Wouldn't that be a sight!

Scuba has put all the communications packets together so they will be mailed out next week to everyone---Keep a watch for them!

We are always here in the office if you have things you want on the calendar just let us know!

Always Good To Hear from our Alumni!

Fred –

Happy Birthday.

I cannot believe you are “just” 85.  I attended Tall Timbers, White Mountain, and Green Briar (counselor at all three – maybe the only one) from ’62 to ’67 (camper, CIT, Jr. Counselor and Counselor).  I taught riflery and, at Tall Timbers, skeet shooting.

You imparted such wisdom and counsel then, to think that you were only 35 then is amazing.  I learned a lot from you.

If you remember, my wife Jeannie and I with our young son Matthew visited Timber Ridge for a day back in the ‘90’s.  You gave us the tour, and I saw my old cabin plaque (Rolling Stones) on the Green Briar rafters (see GreenBriar picture attached).

One other story – one day in 1965 when I was a White Mountain counselor, you and Herb came strolling along in the cabin area across from the pool carrying a sledge hammer.  There had always been this cement block in the field, and it turns out this was a time capsule from 1955, the first year.  You and Herb broke it open and included in the stuff was a list of first year attendees, which included my cousin Douglas Pollack.  That was pretty cool.

I also started playing Frisbee summer of 1965, so this June marks 50 years of Frisbee playing.  I have been playing and competing since 1965, and perhaps that never would have happened without that summer experience.

It isn't Saturday and we aren't at services, DARN! I guess I am ahead of myself. I want to listen to the CITs as they talk about the theme, lead us in songs, activities head to award the amazing campers of the week, Uncle Fred leading us in Five Constipated Men, and who could forget about finishing it of with Friends!

Camp builds friendships between campers, campers and counselors, campers and adults, counselors and adult staff, counselor and parents, and adult staff and parents. There is so much friendship going on that it hard to keep track of the new sparks of friendship that start almost every other minute at camp or the fire of friendship keeps on burning summer after summer.

We love hearing from old campers, old counselors, or old staff. We love catching up or if your a camper we love hearing just how your day went. I have seen countless emails of questions from current campers about the upcoming year. It shows that they want the best summer as possible!

The thing is, why not bring a friend from home with you? Keep that friendship burning throughout the summer and they get to meet even more amazing people and spark friendships that they wouldn't be able to do so if they didn't come to camp.

Camp is one of the safest, if not the safest way to meet kids from France, Spain, England, Italy, Switzerland, and so many other countries that you won't be able to experience if you didn't come to camp.

So bring a friend. If they are important to you then why not expose them to the amazing magic that can only be found at Timber Ridge.

I'll be here singing my heart out till that first Saturday Service.

Thanksgiving

Hello my Timber Ridge friends and family,


What does Thanksgiving have to do with Timber Ridge?  This is a holiday that is not religous, it does not divide us it includes all of us.  It is a day about friendship and family.  That is what Timber Ridge has meant to Uncle Fred for 60 years.  Each day is more challenging then the past and yet on Thanksgiving families and friends get together and are just thankful that we have each other.   My house is always open for anyone who needs a place to be on this day.  But please call first!  People travel the most on this day because it is a day to be thankful.  It is warm and fuzzy and a fun day.  A day to realize it is all o.k. because we have family and friends that are there for us each and every day.  I remember being a little girl and waking up early to watch the Thanksgiving parades in excitement to see the new floats.  On this day,  I like to think of all the wonderful people I have met at Timber Ridge and how they have impact my life.  My best friend in the world Fran Blauer and how amazing she is.  Her life is one of dedication and love.  I am thankful I met her from camp and that she is my friend.  JM and how he has become my sidekick and hope his day is amazing.  I wonder what he is cooking for Thanksgiving.  Murray is coming from Pennsylvania and staying over so we can  see Fran.  Scuba has joined the table this year and is helping cook our feast.   The years fly by so quickly that it seems like yesterday when Jason Klein had my son's Zack's cabin cleaned the shower house at 6 a.m. because they refused to clean, or when Jason decided to build a bridge for the rope swing and sent my nephew Jeremy Kaufman to get tools.  He got tools and with Andrew Schwartzman  and drilled a hole in the canoe so it would sink.  I remember raiding the canteen when I was 16 and Uncle Fred yelling, Brett Panter get out of there, and out I came with my boyfriend of the summer.  He was shocked.  I remember walking to Green Briar to raid their canteen and toilet paper their cabins at 2 a.m.  I remember midnight trailrides with Jill Severn through the woods, and her yelling don't worry the horses know where they are going.  This summer sitting in front of Cabin 14 and 15 and helping from afar for them to get ready for bed.  Watching them swing from the rafters and counselors so frustrated.  But when I asked them to come outside and I said, "boys time to shower and get ready for bed",  Jacob Sobel and Stevie Ray got their stuff headed to the shower house laughing all the way, and the rest of the cabin turned off the lights and went to sleep.  The counselors thought I was the miracle worker, but I was only a mother.  I think often of Zack Kandel and love to watch how well he is doing, and he is still holding hands with Alexis Hyman.  A true camp romance.  Talking about true camp romances,  I remember staying up all night with Erica Herzog watching T.V. in the main house because she had 102 fever and we just watched, "I love Lucy" , "The Brady Bunch" and other reruns.  Now she is married with two children to her camp sweetheart, "Jordan Lubart".  Neil Herzog met his wife from a friend from camp and he has a child now too.  Then there is Adam Herzog and seeing him visit every summer is like he never left.  Adele their mother, once the ceramics instructor at camp, dressed for Thanksgiving in her grandchildren's school pageant as an Indian with her Timber Ridge gear on.  Thanksgiving a time to remember, a time to be together, a time to talk about the fun, the memories and a time to be thankful we can all be together to share this day.   Eat alot of turkey, sit long after the meal sharing,  and if your ears are buzzing,  we are talking about you with love.  Have a great day!

Remember when?

I was having supper with friends last  night and we were talking about the importance of camp.  It is now more important then ever.  This technological society has built brilliant minds that can not figure out how to fry an egg, or explain what is going on in their lives.  Talking, reasoning, living is not found on a computer or a text message.  Every year at camp we do not allow cell phones and every year most children bring them to camp.  We try our best to collect the phones so that friendships are made that last forever and not until the end of a poorly interpreted text message.  Last summer I thought it would be great to give back the cell phones the day before camp ended only to walk down girls row to children zoning out texting friends from home.  Immediately I collected the cell phones and suddenly the wonderful magic of friendship began again.  It was like a light switch and was so eery.  Anyway, I came home to this email from an old alumni.

I was looking at the Fall 2014 edition of The Rattler which included this year's Color War songs.  It made me think back to my summer as a counselor at White Mountain.  Paul and I introduced the concept and ran the first Color War that summer.  That was 1967 (OMG...is that really possible?).  I don't know how Color War has morphed over the years or if you adopted the concept of surprising the camp with the start of Color War and making that introduction bigger and more grandiose every year as we proposed.  With that in mind, I realized that this summer will be 2015 and therefore 50 years of Color War isn't that far away.  I would love to think that you would celebrate such a significant anniversary by somehow making it extra special.  My summer at White Mountain was just yesterday so 50 years of Color War must be coming up tomorrow.  That would mean it's almost time to start thinking about what special might look like.

BTW, I still remember my summer at Timber Ridge with great fondness.  I can only hope that my campers enjoyed their stay as much as I enjoyed mine.

Memories!

"Tonight is the last night of camp and I don’t know what to say. I love this place so much. This is my favorite place. People say, “Why in the world would you want to go to camp?” Camp is life changing experience. There are so many things you can try. I’ve never played tens. Now I play it every day. I had so many firsts at camp. First experience with boys. Just kidding, they are weird. And lastly the first experience with living with people. I met my best friend at camp. I had a Hershey bar and water for canteen my 1st year of camp. I’ve met so many people I love. Next year we will all be seniors. In 30 years we will be at Hallan Restaurant talking about our lives we all plan on being CITs. We came to camp for a reason and that’s to see each other. We have the best counselors who have been in the place I am. I love camp so much and I hope all of you read this and agree with me. "

In this journal we get the real meaning of camp. I read through the journals again today as we put the finishing touches to send them out by the end of next week. I can look back and remember the juniors running up and down the hills screaming and having a blast. Or the inters narfing all day and all night outside cabin 14 and 15. I also see the seniors sitting in the grove and chatting with one another. The children don't always take the journals as serious as they should, because they are the memories that you will have for a life time. Some memories may fade away and some might stay forever, but the journal is how to document every precious moment of your summer.

I remember Paige and Eleni going and moving Logan's bed to the flagpole for a prank. I remember moving the office to Jill's trailer for almost a week. I remember taking five cabins to Pack's. I remember making everyone's schedule (by the way your welcome). I remember hearing about David Schechter's first kiss of the summer. I remember sitting with Sophia Alembik and discussing with her friends that I have known her since she was a junior. I remember a lot from my summer and these are just a few of the many memories from the summer. 

The memories are going to live forever and it makes me want to go to camp. Fred is leaving tomorrow and it will be sad to see him go. And myself, Alex, and Jill have a camp fair to go to this Sunday, We are very busy right now, but I would love to hear about your favorite memory from the summer!

We miss you all! We cannot wait to see you next month!

Thank you for all that you have done!

Hello all! I cannot believe that we are only 218 days away from another amazing summer! We miss you all and cannot wait to see you in only a few more months.

We are in full swing right now. Jill is working on getting new campers. Uncle Fred is in last few days of recovery after his back surgery and getting stronger every single day. Alex is making sure business goes smoothly on a day to day basis. And I am currently finishing the journals full of your favorite camp memories and working on our next newsletter to send out. We are busy trying to make your summer even more memorable than the last.

I just want to give you a quick update and just take a moment and take a few minutes to discuss something very special with you. I had the chance to sit down with friend last week and with it being Veterans Day I just wanted to take a few second of your time. Uncle Fred was a veteran and he was also the one responsible for changing so many children's lives. He is responsible for relationships, for children laughing, crying, sharing, and changing. Children that have gone to Timber Ridge, Camp White Mountain or Camp Green Briar with Uncle Fred have changed for the better and were never the same after camp. They grew up at camp, the changed to be more humble, or they have just became a better person. And all of this was from one idea that Uncle Fred had and he acted on it.

So when your thanking your veterans today. Do not forget to thank Uncle Fred for all of the amazing accomplishments that he was able to achieve in just one life time.

I wrote this as my personal thank you to him. And I want to thank all of the other veterans out there. Have an amazing day.
